El manual Matière Première para elegir el perfume que mejor se adapte a ti

The Matière Première manual for choosing the perfume that best suits you

Matière Première, the fragrance revolution. The brand's name is a statement of intent. 'Materia prima' perfectly encapsulates the creator's goal when he decided, just two years ago, to make the purest and most exquisite natural raw materials available to the public.

The fragrances are built solely around a single natural ingredient, used in high doses. To achieve this, Aurélien Guichard selects only the finest raw materials in the world, allowing their texture to be perceived and their most beautiful facets to be enhanced.

As a result, the eight Matière Première fragrances stand out for their beauty, power, intensity and longevity.

How to choose the perfume of your life?

It's not enough to just spray it on your wrist and smell it. Matière Première perfumes are packaged respecting their natural color and aged until the final stages of bottling to further refine their character and enhance their intensity. When you open a bottle of good wine, you have to let it breathe, so that its full character becomes something soft and savoury. This is also the case with Matière Première, whose "bottles" allow you to distinguish the different ingredients and their distinctive nuances.

It's not a matter of taste, but of feelings. The fragrances created by Aurélien Guichard help people gain confidence, generate a feeling, and even create a unique story around that scent.

Don't 'copy'. There's no such thing as a perfect perfume for everyone. According to Aurélien Guichard himself, "Fragrances are different for everyone. I believe a perfume should emphasize your uniqueness as a person, which is why diversity is essential."

Define yourself. Find the character trait you like most and that best represents you. If you think that fragrance enhances it, go for it.

It has to always seduce you. Don't forget. They're timeless, with no distinction between winter and summer fragrances.

Not always on the wrist. When trying a perfume, it's always said to apply it where our skin is thinnest (wrist, behind the ears), but for Aurélien Guichard, it's a very personal process.

Duration is key. A fragrance that doesn't last at least 7-8 hours isn't a good fragrance. The longevity of a fragrance depends on the quality of the perfume.

Depending on your personality, there is a Matière Première perfume for you.

  • Modern and arrogant. That was the nuance that Aurélien Guichard sought when developing Parisian Musc , and could only be built on a vegetal musk. The central ingredient is the ambrette seed from Peru.
  • Elegantly wild. Cologne Cédrat It captures the scent of lemon peel as it's cut by hand. How do you convey that scent that lingers between your fingers? And how do you maintain it? To achieve this, you use Italian citron oil with peppery notes that preserve its freshness.
  • Radiant and optimistic. Neroli Oranger It defines you. The idea was to transform the richness and vibrancy you feel when you open an orange blossom. The challenge was maintaining the balance between its radiant and fresh facets, but Matiere Premiere succeeded.
  • Intense and unforgettable. Santal Austral is based on organic sandalwood oil. But be careful. Its character is softer and begins to become evident after a while on the skin. However, it's a fragrance that can last for days, even weeks.
  • Absolutely earthly. Ebony Wood It is the quintessential woody fragrance and the result of the combination of different woods from around the world.
  • Mysterious and sensual. Encens Suave evokes a unique incense that becomes addictive and dark when worn.
  • Rabidly feminine. Radical Rose It's the perfume with the highest concentration of rose in the world. Roses are very complex, and giving them that modern character was a challenge. When you pick roses over long periods of time, something curious happens: a kind of resin remains on your hands that doesn't smell like a rose, but leaves a colder, darker scent. That's what you can appreciate in this perfume.
  • Decidedly masculine. Falcon Leather is inspired by falconry gloves. Centuries ago, perfumes weren't created for people, but for gloves, since they were made from animal skin, and they wanted to change that smell. Aurélien Guichard has done the opposite, a fragrance inspired by those leather gloves, but created with a plant-based "leather."

High perfumery with a conscience

Respect for nature, fair trade, and organic production are priorities for Matiere Premiere. This is embodied in the organic farm in Grasse owned by Aurélien Guichard himself, making him the only perfumer in the world to organically cultivate his own Rosa Centifolia. This land was even recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2018.
