How did the brief for Maison Crivelli differ from traditional projects?
I had a lot of freedom! Thibaud is very keen to allow the perfumer to express themselves as they see fit, and we had very little back and forth: this gave me plenty of time to create, and I was able to work on my perfume without any pressure.
How did you start working on perfume?
I began by refining my tuberose to make it as natural as possible, working on its petals, its freshness, and its very distinctive sensuality. Then, the leather and its animalic amber facets made things very dark. I had to find a balance, maintaining the purity of the scent so that neither the flower nor the leather took on too much light.
What makes the note so unique?
Its striking contrast: the almost fleshy whiteness of the tuberose skin is darkened by a burning leather.
